If you care enough about me (or are just nosy enough) to read this blog then I guess I can be honest with you. I just feel the need to write some things down.
I stepped on the scale last week and discovered that I have gained 15 pounds within the last year (or so I'm guessing). I don't weigh myself very often, but I'm going to say the majority of this was put on within the last 8 months. Prior to this I had weighed 120 pounds for as long as I can remember... this is honestly the first time I have ever gained a noticeable amount of weight. and it is noticeable.
I obviously knew that this was happening otherwise I wouldn't have weighed myself in the first place. I haven't exercised once since the new year and have been eating without concern of how many calories I'm actually taking in a day. I'm down to one pair of jeans and can't even get last summer's shorts over my thighs!
All of this being said I am on a mission... a mission to lose 15 pounds over the summer. I don't plan on updating this blog with pictures of me in a bathing suit holding a newspaper or even my current weight, but I do feel like posting some of my non-scale personal victories.
So, things I'm proud of myself for doing this week are as follows...
1. Going back to Fastfit (twice) after it had been so long, and I was kind of scared.
2. Listening to my body and deciding to take a day off from working out and going to yoga instead to stretch out my sore muscles. (Little did I know I was in for the hardest yoga class of my life!!)
3. Doing something everyday, even if it was just a half an hour of walking.
4. Actually reading how many calories are in the things I eat and adjusting accordingly.
5. Drinking water and pretty much nothing else.
Hoorah!
Hoorah! I have recently discovered that my body HATES junk food. I feel like Nikki. :) In the mornings, my mommy makes me steel cut oats with blueberries, a heaping spoonful of flax seed, and just a little bit of brown sugar. On the days I don't have it, my body freaks out. I had pop tarts for breakfast and right now, I would KILL for an avacado.
ReplyDeleteI think you changed your mind in the post above this so I'll have to read what you wrote but I think being healthy is one the most important things to figure out. How we eat now or exercise now carries over way into the future. I need to eat more beans. I hate beans.
dang it, I don't know why it's not telling me when I have comments!!
ReplyDeleteOatmeal is like this crazy food. That's awesome that you have been eating it with blueberries and flax seed. I choke down the instant stuff in the morning and almost gag (I don't know why, it's weird). but yah... when I eat the real stuff I like forget to eat the rest of the day, lol. It's amazing!
